Ko’s Yong-In has been proudly teaching Taekwondo and Hapkido in the Chicago area for over 25 years.
Founded by Grand Master Ko, a graduate of the famous martial arts school, Yong-In University.
We offer Classes for Children (3+), teens, and adults, from beginners to black belts, and are actively involved in the community through demonstrations, state & local competitions, and school programs.

tae kwon do?
Taekwondo is an ancient Korean martial art known for its emphasis on high, fast kicks and powerful striking techniques. It combines physical fitness, discipline, and mental focus, often practiced both as a sport and a means of self-defense. Taekwondo is also an Olympic sport, promoting values like respect, perseverance, and self-control. These disciplines carry over into all areas of life.
what is
hapkido?
Hapkido is a Korean martial art focused on self-defense, blending joint locks, throws, kicks, and strikes with fluid motion and redirection of an opponent’s energy. It emphasizes using technique over brute strength, often incorporating pressure points and weapons. Hapkido practitioners train to defend against a variety of attacks using circular motion and precise control.
Kukkiwon Dan Certification at Ko's Yong-In Martial Arts
Kukkiwon, the official governing body for World Taekwondo and Olympic-style Taekwondo, issues the most respected and globally recognized Dan certifications in the martial arts world. Earning a Kukkiwon Dan certificate confirms your skills and rank at the highest international level, providing clear, official recognition of your achievements.
While many Taekwondo practitioners train hard to reach higher ranks, not all schools have the ability to process and submit Kukkiwon certifications. This leaves many students unable to receive the recognition they deserve.
At Ko's Yong-In Martial Arts, we are proud to offer direct access to Kukkiwon Dan certification. All of our Masters and Black Belts are officially certified by Kukkiwon, reflecting the high standards we uphold in both instruction and leadership. Our school maintains a trusted and long-standing relationship with Kukkiwon, and Grand Master Ko is a respected member of the Kukkiwon Certification System.
If you are training elsewhere and your school cannot submit your Dan rank for certification, we can assist you. We work closely with the World Taekwondo Headquarters to ensure that our evaluations meet all Kukkiwon standards. Our promotion tests are comprehensive, fair, and focused on the techniques and skills required for official Kukkiwon certification.
